Alavi named chief of the council for ethnic and religious affairs

TEHRAN – In a decree announced on Thursday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Sayed Mahmoud Alavi as his special assistant and chief of the Council for Ethnic and Religious Affairs”.

Alavi, a cleric, served as intelligence minister in the administration of Hassan Rouhani from 2012 to 2020.
